John Stallworth

John Stallworth is another 4-time Super Bowl winner, 3-time pro-bowler, and a former 1st team All-Pro wide receiver. He was the counterpart to Lynn Swann’s greatness. Stallworth, at the time of his retirement, held every Steelers receiving record. Yet, he currently ranks 3rd among wide receivers in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns in franchise history.

He battled a serious of leg injuries that as a speedster could’ve derailed his career. However, he found a way to come back each and every time and paired with first Lynn Swann, then Louis Lipps to form the two greatest receiving tandems in Steelers history. Lipps failed to make this list, as he did not make the plays that Holmes and Swann made to help with super bowl wins. His stats also do not compare to the top 2 receivers in franchise history.

Stallworth’s stats are above every receiver we have seen so far on this list. His longevity helped with this. He was still the best receiver on the Steelers 70’s dynasty. He would be a cornerstone piece of the Steelers offense for the better part of 14 years and had retired as the greatest receiver the black and gold had ever seen. Yet, the next two receivers had the privilege of playing as the league was transitioning to a more pass-heavy focus offensively.
