Steelers vs Colts: Who the experts are taking in Week 16

The Pittsburgh Steelers will try and stop their slide against the tough Indianapolis Colts this Sunday.

It sure has been an ugly four weeks for the Steelers as they have struggled offensively since the Raven game fiasco. Good teams find ways to win and that’s just what the team did against the Ravens even though it was a very ugly win. Now they will have to face their major cause of concern as they have continued bad habits and lost three straight.

The offense is struggling in every aspect. Ben Roethlisberger is playing the worst football of his career and if he doesn’t improve it might be time to hang up the cleats. The running game got a spark last week with Benny Snell but overall it still struggles. This offense is out of sync and the defense is not turning over the football enough to cover up their woes. This is another must-win game for Pittsburgh.

The Colts on the other hand are starting to ramp up as the season comes to a close. They have a nice balanced offense that has a dominant running game. That running game allows for their passing attack to flourish with Philip Rivers. The blue and white defense is an abusive unit. They can attack all fronts and stop the run. Their secondary is another strong part of their well-rounded team. The best chance to win is Roethlisberger taking advantage of this secondary at times and the defense causing turnovers.

The Experts are not favoring the Steelers in this game.

Mike Tomlin and his team are not predicted to win this game when you look at most experts’ picks. Three picks from CBS Sports, Sporting News, and Yahoo Sports have the Colts winning with a two-thirds majority. This should be a playoff-like atmosphere but this could very well be just like the Buffalo game a couple of weeks ago. They could be dominated by the Colts the entire game if the home squad plays like last week.

It will be a tough game and that will feel like the playoffs as the season starts to wrap a bow on it. If Pittsburgh can’t fix their issues this week then it seems very tough to imagine that they will ever mend these problems. This is another big week for the Steelers as they are playing for seeding and a way to get out of this habitual funk. It will now need to be fixed with a trial by combat on Sunday. They failed to fix the issues last week and they will need to this week and next as the season ends and the playoffs come to light.

Prediction: Steelers 20, Colts 28

This is going to be a tough game for the Steelers to win as they have really been struggling to do anything right. It will be a very big test for them this week and a win would be giant for a team in their situation.
