Defense comes to play

While the Steelers allowed the Bengals to score 27 points last week, a lot of that blame shouldn’t fall onto the defense. While preventing scores does ultimately fall onto their shoulders, the offense did them no favors. The Bengals only amassed 89 yards through the air last week, and only ran for another 152. The Bengals were presented with great field position on quite a few of those drives, and that made scoring that much easier. Of course, the defense wasn’t perfect, but they were far from the problem.

With the offense stalling and the division title on the line, I think the defense really takes over this week. In all honesty, this year is turning into one quite similar to last year. While the Steelers have thankfully claimed a playoff spot already, this team is limping. The defense knows this, and they know that it will be up to them to get this team back to their winning ways.

Considering the talent and the desperation this defense has this week, I think they take over. The Colts do have a solid offense, but it is one that can be exploited. While Jonathan Taylor has turned it on recently, the Steelers rush defense holds him to under 50 rushing yards. Likewise, they bring Philip Rivers down three times and pick him off twice. The defense does everything they can to keep the Steelers in this game.
