4 bold predictions for the Steelers in Week 16 vs. the Colts
Roethlisberger gets benched
Considering his mediocre performance over the past couple of weeks, it may not be overly bold that the Steelers opt to bench their starting quarterback. That said, Roethlisberger is a future Hall of Famer, and if he has to be benched during this game, it could very well be the last snaps he plays for the team. Unfortunately, his odds of rebounding this week seems grim.
While plenty of blame falls on Roethlisberger himself, the offensive game plan isn’t aiding him While he is limited, the Steelers haven’t tried to fix any of their issues over the past few weeks. The team is still trying to pass quick, often, and short as opposed to attempting a more balanced approach. Despite this plan beginning to show its weaknesses during the second game against the Ravens, the Steelers have opted to stick to this plan.
Thus, with Roethlisberger still ailing and the offense unlikely to change, I think he plays about as well as he has over the past few weeks. Assuming the defense shows up, something that seems like a safe bet, this game will hopefully remain somewhat close. That would justify a change at quarterback if Roethlisberger is struggling, as a new face could have a ripple effect that leads to a comeback. While it wouldn’t bode well for their future this season, I predict that the team is forced to bench Roethlisberger.
With the Steelers in a downward spiral and the division title on the line, the team will have to do whatever they can to win this bout. Keep these bold predictions in mind as the team faces off in a critical game on Sunday, as they can ultimately alter the final outcome of this game.
