LB Devin Bush

It’s terribly unfortunate that Devin Bush suffered such a serious setback in his second NFL season. While he wasn’t making as many big plays in year two, Bush had become a more consistent football player and was part of a record-setting defense for the Pittsburgh Steelers. But even after suffering a torn ACL in 2020, there is plenty of reason to believe he will shine in 2021.

For starters, Bush was a phenomenal athlete and an impressive prospect coming out of Michigan in 2019. Though he stands at just 5’11”, Bush tested as a 97th percentile athlete at the NFL Combine, according to Three Sigma Athlete, and the sky is the limit to what he might accomplish in the NFL. While an ACL injury is always serious, it happened early enough in the season for Bush to come back and make a full recovery by training camp next year.

Bush has a rare combination of physicality and athleticism, and there aren’t a handful of running backs in the league that are going to beat him to the edge. The most encouraging news is that Bush doesn’t even turn 23 years old until mid-July, and he still has a bright career path ahead of him. In his third season commanding this defense, I not only expect Devin Bush to shine, but I believe he could emerge as one of Pittsburgh’s best players by as early as next year.
