The Steelers will eventually need to replace a future Hall of Fame QB

Personally, I would like to see Ben Roethlisberger, our franchise and future Hall of Fame QB, play until he’s 50 years old, but we all know that is not in the realm of probability.  What’s more probable is that ‘Big Ben’ retires after winning another Super Bowl.

When that day comes, Steelers fans may experience a drought at QB that I had to endure between Terry Bradshaw and ‘Big Ben’.  It was 20 long years before we found another franchise QB to steer the ship.  Those were dark days to be sure; days that I hope to not have to endure again.

While I am unsure about a franchise QB being available in the 2021 NFL draft, what I am sure about is that we do not have a suitable replacement for ‘Big Ben’ currently on the roster.  I like our QB’s and I think any of them would be capable of leading the team to a winning campaign, I don’t think any of them has the ‘it’ factor that ‘Big Ben’ has.

Honestly, the closest one in my opinion is Devlin Hodges, our second-year FA from Samford.  I would be the most comfortable with Hodges at QB, provided we had an effective running game behind him.  Hodges played well in spot duty in 2019. He has ‘Moxy’ and that’s what I think our other QB’s are lacking.

Let’s take a look at our fourth biggest draft need.
