Cut Maurkice Pouncey

In my opinion, no player on the Steelers has been more overrated over the past two years than Maurkice Pouncey. Despite grading out among the worst centers in the league each of the past two seasons, Pouncey has been awarded consecutive Pro Bowl honors in 2019 and 2020 – something he clearly wasn’t deserving of.

His reputation as a former All-Pro center has blinded many to the fact that his play simply has not been good over the past few years, and Pittsburgh’s offense is struggling because of it. This year, Pouncey finished the season as the 31st ranked center in the NFL. Considering there are only 32 teams, this is far from where we would like our ‘Pro Bowl’ center to be.

I know it’s not the most popular idea, but cutting Maurkice Pouncey is a must this season. The veteran center will be 32 years old this offseason and he is set to cost the team nearly $14.5 million in 2021. The Steelers can save $8 million by cutting him, and he isn’t even deserving of starting role next season. This should be an easy move.
