Ben Roethlisberger will play one more season

No decision looms larger for the Steelers this year than whether or not Ben Roethlisberger elects to retire. This is apparently something the future Hall of Fame quarterback has been contemplating for some time now, and it seems he’s never been closer to retirement than he is right now. However, despite an embarrassing end to his 2020 campaign, I think Big Ben returns to play out the final year of his contract.

Though he risks humiliation if his play continues to drop as a 39-year-old next season, it would be incredibly hard for anyone to step away from that kind of money he will be making next season, as he is set to have the single highest cap hit in the NFL. Ben has previously made mention of staying loyal to the terms of his contract and finishing out his deal he signed with the team.

While Roethlisberger still has plenty of time to change his mind, the Steelers are going to be looking for an answer soon, and I think he will put his helmet on for one final season in 2021.

With the way things are shaping up, it’s possible that all five of these predictions come to fruition in the coming months. One thing is for sure: the Steelers have a  plethora of important decisions on their hands and it will be interesting to watch them unfold.
