Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas

Samuel Cosmi is one of the middle tier first-round tackles at this current point in the draft process because he is somewhat raw. He will need more work than Leatherwood to get to his potential. His ceiling is high and that will attract teams to him when their choice comes around. Colbert will have a choice to make if all other tackles, including Leatherwood, are off the board. You do not want to take a tackle just because the need is there. The best player available must be taken but Cosmi would be a good option.

The biggest advantage this prospect has is youth. He does not turn 22 until February and that will also help him in the first-round stock. He could’ve stayed in school to develop more but he is NFL ready. He would be an upgrade over the current depth at the Left Tackle position. He and Chuks Okorafor would battle for the starting spot but Cosmi seems to be the better option unless Okorafor takes a big step next year. It is time for the franchise to reinvest into the offensive line so don’t be angry or surprised when they pick one with their first choice in the draft. Do not be shocked if they chose more than one linemen in the draft either.

This year’s draft will be huge in figuring out which way this franchise will go in the future. If they make the right decisions then losing Roethlisberger after the season ends will be less of a blow.
