Andy Dalton
The Steelers know this quarterback all too well and he’s not a player you would ever want to be stuck with as your long-term starter. However, Andy Dalton showed last year why he would offer better depth than what the Steelers currently have.
Though Dalton should by no means be looked at as the answer for Pittsburgh at quarterback. He’s a smart player capable of running an offense – making him a solid number two option. We still don’t know whether or not Mason Rudolph can be that for the Steelers and one solid game in 2020 shouldn’t be enough to convince us to ignore his 2019 tape.
At the very least, Dalton could kick Haskins off the roster and both push Mason Rudolph and coach him up on the sidelines. He’s a fairly cheap option who would really help improve their depth on the team.
It’s highly unlikely that any of the names on this list would become anything more than quality backups for the Steelers if signed. However, each one is an experienced NFL player who has seen some success at one point or another. Pittsburgh shouldn’t be content with their quarterback situation, and these four guys could help at a very reasonable price.
