The 2021 NFL Draft is going to be loaded with quarterbacks early. Here’s how I currently have the top passers ranked and what that means for the Steelers.

From the looks of things, Ben Roethlisberger is going to be Pittsburgh’s quarterback in 2021 – whether you are on board with that or not. While the Steelers are going to want to get their 39-year-old quarterback some talent that can contribute right away, Art Rooney II knows that the quarterback position will need to be addressed soon.

By all accounts, the 2021 NFL Draft is going to be front-heavy at the position, and there could be as many as three quarterbacks taken inside the top five picks this year. When it’s all said and done, we could see five quarterbacks being drafted in the first round. If the chips fall the right way for the Steelers, perhaps they are still willing to make a move for their quarterback of the future. Here are my current quarterback tier rankings for the 2021 NFL Draft:

Tier 1: Transcendent talent

Trevor Lawrence, Clemson

Spoiler alert: Trevor Lawrence is going number one overall this year to the Jacksonville Jaguars, but I’m sure I’m not telling you something you don’t already know. Outside of maybe only Andrew Luck, Lawrence is arguably considered the best quarterback prospect to ever enter the draft.

At 6’6” with elite arm talent a plethora of tools, Lawrence is everything you could ask for in a prospect and more. Though there are still some processing and decision-making issues he needs to improve on, he’s a transcendent prospect with the talent to be a top-tier quarterback in the NFL if the conditions are right.
