Jabril Cox, LB, LSU

One of the overall most impressive defensive players at the Senior Bowl is a guy that not many are talking about. Jabril Cox was a linebacker for LSU, but he shockingly never played a game for them before the 2020 season, as he was a former transfer from North Dakota State. In 10 games in 2020, Cox’s stats were underwhelming (58 tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss, 1.0 sack). However, his ability in pass coverage is thoroughly impressive.

Despite starting just one year at LSU, Cox managed 3 interceptions and 5 pass defenses last year. He also managed to average over 21 yards per interception return and he took one back to the house for a defensive score. At 6’2 3/4” and 233 pounds, Cox has very good size for the position to go with his impressive coverage skills.

For the Steelers, Cox could slide into Vince Williams’ role at Buck linebacker almost immediately and make a world of difference in the passing game. Instead of having a liability at the position, Cox could potentially give Pittsburgh their best pass-coverage inside linebacker duo they’ve ever had.

There were a handful of other players who really impressed last week at the Senior Bowl, but these seven guys really caught my eye. I can envision how they could be used in Pittsburgh and they are all players who should be on the Steelers radar for the 2021 NFL Draft.
