Tua Tagovailoa

This is one that I would find particularly intriguing. If Tua Tagovailoa was dealt after just one season, this would hardly be the first time we saw something like this happen. Just two years ago, former first-round pick Josh Rosen was traded to Miami when they stumbled upon Kyler Murray and the first overall pick in 2019.

The Dolphins could do the same with Tua. Though giving him 9 starts hardly seems like enough time to make a fair assessment, Miami has a chance to immediately upgrade the quarterback position with the 3rd overall pick by drafting either Zach Wilson or Justin Fields. They are also said to be one of the top teams in the running for Deshaun Watson if he is dealt. In either case, they would no longer have a need to keep Tagovailoa around as a backup and they could trade him to potentially get their first-round pick back.

The last time the Steelers made a trade with the Dolphins, it worked out beautifully for Pittsburgh (Minkah Fitzpatrick). If Pittsburgh has the opportunity to trade for another potential blue-chip player at the most important position in football, they could make it happen. Tua is still very much unproven and presents a risk, but he still has three years and a fifth-year option remaining on his rookie deal and his $7.5 million average annual cap hit is easily manageable.
