Carson Wentz

I know that part of the reason Doug Pederson was fired was that he wanted to move on from Carson Wentz but with so many changes in the Eagles organization this year, perhaps they would be willing to start over if they could find a team that would take Wentz off their hands. However, this would be the biggest gamble out of all the quarterbacks who could potentially be traded this offseason.

Despite his struggles over the past two years, Wentz is currently the 8th-highest-paid quarterback in the NFL in terms of yearly value, and the Steelers would have to find a way to take on his cap hit if they even want to think about making something like this work. Unfortunately, the Eagles are in an even worse cap situation and they may not be able to help them out by absorbing some of Wentz’s money.

The good news is that Wentz could cost the least amount of draft capital in a trade due to his drop-in play and high salary number, but finding a team that is willing to take that on would be a challenge. Wentz did have some incredible years from 2017-2019 and there will be teams who believe they can get that kind of production back out of him. However, I would have a really hard time buying that the Steelers could make this work financially. Still, he’s a quarterback Pittsburgh would have interest in.
