5. Super Bowl XIV

A fourth Super Bowl win in the matter of a decade or less hasn’t been broken, but teams such as the 49ers and the Patriots have tried recently and haven’t succeeded. The Steelers at the end of the 1980s were able to accomplish this feat and no team has ever gone close to top it. Among the last 2 Super Bowls the Steelers played in and considering how their opponent the Los Angeles Rams got to the game, it was going to be an effortless coronation as the Steelers were heavily-favored by 10 ½ points.

Pittsburgh didn’t see LA as a threat and the Rams kept the game close which scared Steelers fans in Pittsburgh and those who were at the Rose Bowl. Rams’ Jack Youngblood was giving the Steelers’ offense problems at the line of scrimmage that shifted the momentum for the Rams to remain close in the game, but an efficient 4th Quarter for Pittsburgh sealed the game out of reach and successfully claimed the 4th Vince Lombardi trophy in a matter of 7 years. The reason this game is Number Five would be the impact felt on the earlier games against the Cowboys that pushed Pittsburgh to the top and I will explain in a bit.
