Ties to the city

While the weakest argument of them all, Watt doesn’t exactly have close ties to the city of Pittsburgh. While he seems to have made his mark through community service, that seems to be more of a Watt thing and less of a love for the city. J.J. Watt did similar things while with the Texans, and that is likely due to the way this family was raised more so than anything else.

All of the Watts were born in Pewaukee Wisconsin, a mere two-hour drive to Green Bay. If he were to have a hometown team, it would likely be the Packers and the surrounding areas, not with the Steelers. Even more so, his brother became an icon while in Houston. He was all over the place making an impact. Watt hasn’t really done that with the Steelers.

Now, part of that could just be his personality. Watt seems like a relatively reserved player that isn’t notably outspoken. That said, he may also not have strong ties to the city. At the end of the day, that shouldn’t be the most important part of his decision, but it could sway him if some other issues are present for him. Watt has no real ties with the Steelers before he was drafted there, and while he has turned into a superstar there, he may not have the desire to stay there.
