Tyrod Taylor

Tyrod Taylor has never been a guy to just take over a football game, but if you want a quarterback who knows how to manage a contest and make good decisions with the ball, he could be the stopgap player the Steelers need if Roethlisberger is done.

Unlike Winston’s outrageously high interception rate, Taylor has just 20 career picks in 72 games since joining the league back in 2011. While his ability to take care of the rock is excellent, he also doesn’t offer a lot in terms of his ability to routinely sling the ball down the field, and he tends to throw a lot of underneath routes to receivers he sees open.

Still, Taylor has always been a strong stopgap player. He was able to lead the Buffalo Bills to an 8-6 record back in 2017, but the fact that he has reached 20 passing touchdowns just once in a season is a bit concerning. Taylor is a quarterback that offers a relatively high floor due to his ability to take care of the ball and move the chains with his legs, but a low ceiling. For a team that already has a good defense, maybe Taylor could make Pittsburgh competitive in 2021.
