San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers aren’t as bad of a team as the 6-10 record they earned in 2020. Just a year earlier, they were a 13-3 team that nearly won the Super Bowl, but injuries clearly got the best of them last season. One of San Francisco’s biggest issues is that their quarterback situation was a mess. Jimmy Garoppolo played just 6 games and was below-average when he saw the field (7 touchdowns, 5 interceptions, 92.4 passer rating).

In fact, it’s very likely the 49ers will cut Garoppolo this offseason, as they can save close to $50 million over the next two years by doing so and only take a combined $4.2 million in dead cap space. With all of this extra money on hand, the 49ers will be able to bolster an already talented roster.

San Francisco would be a great landing spot for Big Ben if he does not agree to terms with the Steelers that would bring his cap number down. Though Roethlisberger isn’t a big fan of play-action, he would only be required to throw 25-35 passes per game while he would certainly be aided by a powerful running game. With Ben, perhaps the 49ers could be back on top in 2021 competing for a title.

Kevin Colbert’s comments about Ben Roethlisberger leave us in the dark about where he will be in 2021. If he can’t work something out with the Steelers and they are forced to cut him, these four teams could seek his services for next season.
