Kelvin Beachum

I wrote about the Steelers needing to look into Kelvin Beachum in an article about former team members that could circle back to the team this year. As time has gone on, this signing seems like a more and more logical option. Beachum was a solid tackle for the Steelers while here, and he enjoyed a minor career renaissance last season after being added to the Cardinals late in the offseason.

Assuming he wants to play another year, a return to Pittsburgh could be just what Beachum needs. Here, he will be able to serve as the swing tackle as well as playing inside as a reserve if need be. The Steelers are relatively fond of using the third tackle, so Beachum wouldn’t just be a reserve either. On top of this, the team doesn’t have a set pair of starting tackles next offseason. There are quite a few questions about the position next year.

Assuming he is willing to play on another contract close to or at the minimum, Beachum would make a lot of sense to have a reunion with the Steelers. No, he isn’t the player he once was, but the team could do worse than having him back up both of their tackle spots. He shouldn’t be a big name on the market, so a return to the team could be likely in 2021.
