Houston Texans

It was just announced that long-time Texan, J.J. Watt, signed with the Arizona Cardinals. Houston is a dumpster fire of a franchise at the moment. They had a terrible season last year but they were just in the playoffs recently. The defense needs a lot of work and bringing in a player like Bud Dupree would help plenty.

The Texans need a pass-rusher since Watt left recently and someone that can help complement the team. Since Dupree has a nice all-around game and the ability to stop the run, he is worth the money to shell out. Currently, the Texans have around 16 million in cap space available, so this team will need to shed some more money. Since Dupree will command attention across the NFL, major cap alleviation will need to occur.

Shedding more space and bringing in a player like Bud Dupree will potentially spark a defense that has struggled. It would also be a nice landing spot for the player. Houston is a great city to live in and he could be the number one guy. Whitney Mercilus is still there and able to apply pressure to the passer. The attention would not solely be on Dupree and he could create a nice tandem. It might not be as dominant when matched up with Watt but it would be a good option. The Texans would need to shed more cap space to make this happen but it would make sense for both parties involved.
