Late-round value at defensive tackle

The last prospect is my favorite. The Steelers could possibly select Marvin Wilson in as late as the 5th or 6th round. He showed flashes of dominance at Florida State throughout his college career and would’ve been drafted higher had he went for the 2020 draft. He has some pass-rushing moves but needs to work on his frame to be a good run defender.

Wilson wouldn’t be a huge upgrade over Buggs, yet would be an upgrade over Davis and Mondeaux. Moreso, his ceiling is still pretty high and with the right coaching, he could develop into a good defensive tackle in the long term. With the needs on offense, the Steelers may find themselves having to wait until later in the draft and if Wilson is there, they will have their replacement.

There are options for the Steelers if they need to replace their best run-defender on the team in Tyson Alualu. We can hope that he takes a discount to stay with Pittsburgh, but he may leave for a team with deeper pockets and the Steelers must be ready for it if he does.
