Ladarius Green, Tight end

This was one of the biggest free-agent contracts given out in the Steelers history. It was very uncommon for the team to go out and acquire someone like Green when the negotiating period opened. The team had become one of the most dominant offenses in the NFL so their window for Super Bowl contention had opened again.

The biggest issue for the black and yellow was trying to find a replacement for Heath Miller. Green had been a solid second option at the San Diego Chargers behind Antonio Gates. He had seemed like a promising number one for a team after he left the Chargers organization. Colbert and the team thought the same and inked the player to this massive deal. The contract was worth 20 million over four seasons that included a 4.75 million dollar signing bonus.

The issue with Green was his injury problems. Those issues began to show immediately when he arrived in Pittsburgh. He struggled to get into the lineup almost every Sunday because of an abundance of injuries. He would only last one season with the team after so much hope going forward. He was expected to add another dynamic piece to those special offenses but he failed to stay on the field. It was a major miss by Colbert and the Steelers.
