JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR

This is going to be a tough pill to swallow for fans if Smith-Schuster cannot return to the team. The former second-round pick out of USC has had some up and down moments in his career but he is one of the best slot receivers in the NFL. He is one of the toughest at the position and is consistently able to make plays. His social media stardom might cause concerns for some Steelers fans but he is just trying to do what is best for him and his family. Using your own self-image to make some more money and grow yourself in a business platform is something just new with the younger NFL players. Getting Roethlisberger’s new deal done just seems like maybe this once pipe dream is going to actually happen. If he leaves via free agency is it the end of the world? No, but bringing him back would provide some stability for the future.

Big Ben would love to have him back I’m sure and so would that receiver’s room. Coming back is what Smith-Schuster wants. He has stated time and time again that he would like to re-sign with Pittsburgh and finish his career in one place. Money talks and we will see what he wants more when money starts being thrown around. He will still have to take a team-friendly deal to stay in the black and gold. So the fans will see what he values more.

Even though the Steelers were able to cut down the cap number for Roethlisberger, expect some more restructures in the near future. They will need as much cap space as possible to re-sign their own free agents.
