Tampa Bay loses many of their own

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off winning the Super Bowl as Tom Brady raised his seventh trophy during his career. With success comes some very big paydays for the players on those championship rosters. Fortunately for this team, they have some cap space to work with going forward. The bad news for this team is they have many big-name free agents that need to be re-signed going forward. Some of those names consist of Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Brown, Chris Godwin (was just franchise tagged), Lavonte David, Shaq Barrett, and Ndamukong Suh.

Those big names will command some money on the open market as they are some of the best in the NFL for their positional groups. Keeping championship teams together is difficult because every franchise wants to get their hands on players with that Super Bowl experience. It is a unique thing to have on a player’s resume and all franchises want players that know how to win those big games.

The experience gained at the Super Bowl is immeasurable so these players will command a good market in free agency. Players like Godwin, Barrett, and David will generate the most interest when the negotiating period begins. It will be tough for them to bring these important players back and it would not shock many when they sign elsewhere. Staying to chase rings is always something each fanbase hopes for but the reality of that happening is very slim. Expect players to depart from Tampa Bay even though the thought of staying for future championships is there.
