Josh Hill: Pursue

Josh is easily the most underused tight end on this list in regards to the passing game, and that’s while having Drew Brees as his QB1 for eight seasons. He is tied for the youngest tight end of the four as well, coming in at the age of 30 alongside Zach Ertz (Ertz is almost half a year younger, yet their numerical ages still match).

I said that Josh Hill was underused within the passing game, not overall. Do you know what he’s doing when he’s not running routes? He’s blocking! He is probably the TE who relies the heaviest on blocking out of the four, and he is coming off of a roster with a passing legend of a quarterback who is accompanied by elite WR targets. This means that Hill would be perfect for a team with blocking trouble on the offensive line, a deep receiving corps, and a pass-first QB. If that does not scream “2021 Pittsburgh Steelers” I have no clue as to what does.

Now, unfortunately, he is also tied with Ertz for the title of smallest tight end, as they share the exact same listed height and weight. However, standing at 6’5″ and 250 pounds makes no man a shrimp. It is also an appropriate size for doing what I said Kyle Rudolph’s size could do, and that is block long enough for Roethlisberger to throw and for Conner to run.

Of course, it should go without mentioning that all of these tight ends are truly special talents in their own respective ways. I really do feel that the Pittsburgh Steelers need a blocker in the TE department right now. When living by that criteria, Kyle Rudolph has the best size for it, while Josh Hill has the best reputation for it. Regardless of wherever these guys end up, let’s just cross our fingers that it’s not on any rival rosters. One trait that they all share is that you want your team’s defense facing them as little as humanly possible.
