This is my attempt to one-up Steelers Colbert as I try an entire mock offseason to rebuild this team.

While there is little doubt that Kevin Colbert is one of the best general managers in the NFL, here is my chance to one-up him. The Steelers are in trouble this offseason as they are set to lose a huge number of starters and have little in terms of cap space to back them up. While the team will work its magic over the next few weeks, this is my chance to take the lead and control the Steelers this offseason.

I won’t be doing this alone though, as I’ll be utilizing Over the Cap for in-house moves, Fanspeak’s manage the cap simulator for free agency moves, and Pro Football Focus’s Draft simulator for the draft. Lastly, if you are feeling up to the call, see if you can do better than I can and put what you would do as GM in the comments below.

Cuts and restructures

While the Steelers have cleared a good deal of cap space, but there are still some moves to be made to get more salary cap. The moves I make are to restructure Stephon Tuitt and Chris Boswell as well as cutting Vince Williams. This clears just under ten million in cap space. It was hard cutting Williams, as he is a key piece on this defense, but his price is worth more than he’s worth at this point. That said, I will be attempting to resign him in free agency for less if he is willing to take it.

This gives the Steelers roughly 14.5 million in cap space heading into the offseason.
