The Steelers will have a need at cornerback this offseason as both of their slot options are set to be free agents. Even if the team can resign one of them, they will still be a need to add depth there. Tre Brown profiles well as a slot capable player, as his size and tackling ability make him look like a Mike Hilton style of player.

Assuming the Steelers can retain one of their pending free agent corners, Brown wouldn’t be expected to start right away. He would instead serve as a special team’s option and a backup slot cornerback in case of injury. He has some limitations in coverage, but his ceiling is a solid run-stopping corner.

player. 837. . EDGE. Cyclones . JaQuan Bailey. 7

JaQuan Bailey isn’t a notably hot name as a pass rusher, but the team will need to add some depth here and he has a good body for an outside linebacker. As well, he has experience dropping into coverage, something the Steelers have asked their linebackers to be able to do from time to time. The issue is his ability to rush the quarterback, as it isn’t well refined or planned out.

Ideally, Bently gets a couple of seasons to develop his pass-rushing traits before seeing any significant snaps. He has a long way to go before being counted on as a top backup. Luckily, the Steelers don’t need a starter at the position right now, but the depth has plenty of concerns. Bently needs a lot of work, but if he can develop well enough, he could be a role player down the road.
