Azeez Ojulari

One draft prospect the Steelers have apparently expressed interest in is Georgia edge defender, Azeez Ojulari. At 6’2” and 249 pounds, Ojulari has the tweener frame that the Steelers typically like. However, his outrageously long arms and freakish wingspan will certainly have him on the radar of 4-3 teams this April.

Outside of maybe just Miami’s Jaelan Phillips (who has serious concussion concerns), Ojulari is the most well-rounded edge rusher in this class with his ability to win with both speed and power as well as shut down the run. Recently, Mike Tomlin and Kevin Colbert were both on hand for Georgia’s Pro Day – meaning that Ojulari is a player who could certainly be in consideration with the 24th overall pick in the first round. While Pittsburgh has more pressing needs on offense, Ojulari is a talent that could be too good to pass up and the Steelers have made it a point to draft three edge defenders in the first round since 2013.

If Ojulari were to be the pick in the first round for the Steelers, he would likely begin his career in a rotational role before sliding into Dupree’s former spot as early as partway through his rookie season – making Highsmith the first off the bench. We probably won’t have to worry about this, however, as Ojulari could be drafted early thanks to his impressive outing at his Pro Day.
