Willie Snead

If the team opts to go the free-agent route, former Raven Willie Snead would make the most sense for the Steelers on a cheap, short-length deal. Snead has been a thorn in the side of the team for a while, so adding him could help alleviate those issues. While not a superstar by any means, Snead is a dependable and reliable receiver that can be counted on to make the catch when need be.

Snead isn’t a freak athlete, but he benefits from running sharp routes and having dependable hands. He isn’t afraid to make the tough catch either, as he goes over the middle regularly and risks himself to make the tough catch. He would fit well with the Steelers, as the other receivers bring a deep passing game element while Snead is more of a short-yardage type and looks to make a guy miss after making the catch.

In terms of value, it would be surprising to see Snead cash in. Again, he isn’t a top-tier threat, but being the third or fourth option on a team deep with receivers would fit him well. He works well in the slot and provides a similar style to what the team is set to lose in Smith-Schuster. Assuming he takes a cheap and short deal, Snead replacing Smith-Schuster makes a lot of sense out of the options in free agency.
