3 players added to Steelers draft radar after Penn State’s Pro Day
By Tommy Jaggi
LB Micah Parsons
I know this one seems like a longshot, and it probably is. However, that doesn’t mean the Steelers won’t have any interest in drafting Penn State linebacker, Micah Parsons if he happens to fall. And there is good reason to believe that he could slip in the NFL Draft this April.
Parsons has some questionable character concerns and there have been troubling reports about his time at Penn State. Whether this is enough to scare teams away from his terrific athletic traits and dominance on the football field remains to be seen.
Parsons is considered to be one of the best linebacker prospects to come out in years, and his testing numbers at his Pro Day were eye-popping as he recorded a blazing 4.39 40-yard dash, a 39.5” vertical jump, and a 134” broad jump. The Steelers moved up in the draft to take Devin Bush with the 10th overall pick in 2019, but they still have a big need to fill next to him in the defense. Parsons could be a player who would be hard for Pittsburgh to pass up if he fell to this point in the NFL Draft.
Pittsburgh is certainly showing several positions that they will be targeting early in the NFL Draft this April. Now we can add three more names to that list. Though these three might not be the most likely pick, all signs show that there is plenty of interest on the part of the Steelers.
