Bringing in an offensive line and a running back

Maurkice Pouncey, Matt Feiler, and likely Al Villanueva will be gone from the team once the 2021 season begins for the Steelers. Those three were all starters over the past couple of seasons for this offensive front. They were all solid in the pass-protection game but they did struggle with their run blocking a lot. The team needs to find three replacements for these starting positions before the year begins and that could be tricky. Running back is another question mark as James Conner will also likely depart from the team via free agency. Addressing all of these needs through the draft seems like it will happen rather than free agency unless the team brings back Villanueva for another season.

Luckily for the Steelers, there are some good options early in the draft at both tackle and center. Kevin Dotson will slide into the starting left guard spot left vacant by Feiler. So that void is already filled and B.J. Finney was brought back to compete for the starting center spot. He should not be the answer and a better option in the draft should be found. The left tackle issue is a big one as Chuks Okorafor is the only one capable on the roster and he has struggled on the opposite side of the line. He is best for a nice depth option and this team will need to find their starter in the draft.

When it comes to running back, many have the Steelers taking one in the first two rounds but we shall see what happens. It is unlikely that they will take one in the first round but running back is not the major issue. The problem stems from the lack of push this front does between the whistles. Fixing the running game will be the highest priority as the draft gets closer and closer.

The Steelers still have a lot of work in front of them but it is not an impossible task. They have time on their hands currently and they will be able to be a competitive team come next season.
