Steelers disappoint fans in all-too-realistic NFL mock draft

Steelers mock draft round 3: Jackson Carman
Here’s a day-two player who will be on the Steelers radar this year. Pittsburgh sent their brass to Clemson’s Pro Day this offseason, and Jackson Carman was the team’s top offensive lineman and blindside protector for quarterback, Trevor Lawrence. At one point, it was thought that Carman could sneak into the late first round. However, after measuring in much smaller than projected (6’4 3/4” and 317 pounds) and not doing any athletic testing at his Pro Day, Carman sees his name slipping on big boards.
By this point in the NFL Draft, the Steelers are going to want to do something to help out the offensive line, and Jackson Carman has the tools they typically look for. Though his tape shows that he can be easily fooled by stunts and exotic defensive looks, he’s a smooth mover and did a quality job keeping Lawrence upright last season.
Pittsburgh loves underclassmen and Carman is a true junior who turned just 21 years old this offseason. He has the body type and traits that could allow him to play both inside and outside at the NFL level, and the Steelers could even try him out at center. Carman isn’t exactly NFL ready, and will likely need a year to get acclimated to his new role with the Steelers.
