Patrick Surtain II, Alabama

This might surprise many as Patrick Surtain II out of Alabama is the number one corner on most boards. Between him and the number one corner on this list, it is extremely close. People should label these top two prospects as more 1A and 1B instead of a one-two option. Surtain is a great athlete that has amazing tape on a talented Alabama defense. That reason is why the number one corner is who he is. It is not Surtain’s fault that he went to a better program but the cast around him definitely helps his game some. His ability to shut down opposing receivers in college is great but he will need to prove he can do that against NFL competition every week. That is the normal cause for issue when these corners make the jump to the NFL level.

His defense during his college days was something special to watch and Surtain was a major factor on those squads. He will need to continue his play as he likely goes onto a bad team or one that has a poor secondary. It will be a tall task but one he should be able to accomplish. He has all the tools to be the best corner in this draft and beyond as long as he continues his growth.
