With the Steelers having a plethora of needs, trading some underused and unneeded talent on draft night can yield some additional picks.

While the Steelers have done the best that they can this offseason, the roster is still riddled with holes that will need to be filled in the draft. While the team already has eight picks, adding more this year or next year can help to build this roster for the future.

With so much change happening this year, and even more to come next year, loading up on picks can keep this roster competitive. Here are five Steelers that could be traded on draft night.

Isaiah Buggs

There was a lot of excitement riding on Isaiah Buggs entering his sophomore season. He played well in limited action as a sixth-round rookie and there was hope that he would take his game to the next level in 2020. While his play did increase last year, his play was inconsistent. It got to the point where he was not dressing as the team favored to play Carlos Davis and Henry Mondeaux.

The issue is, Buggs lacks a defined position. At 6’3, 295 lbs., he is undersized as a defensive end and doesn’t have the necessary strength to be a nose tackle. On the flip side, Mondeaux is a vicious special teams player while Davis is a natural fit at nose tackle.

Does Buggs possess a lot of value right now? No, but a trade-up in a middle to late-round pick next year could be enough to get Buggs on a new team. The Steelers seem to be ready to move on, so getting anything in return would be a win.
