Option 3: Creed Humphrey

There are a lot of reasons to like Creed Humphrey. He is very strong on tape and also tested well. He is well respected by his teammates as Ben Powers told me at the Senior Bowl in 2018.

Humphrey is a former wrestler and is the best center in this draft. The only center that is comparable is Landon Dickerson, but he has some injury history that will need to be evaluated before they go with him in the draft.

The benefit of Humphrey from a position standpoint is that he could be the opening day center and make BJ Finney a backup while he tries to revamp his career. You can really never have too much depth on the offensive line as we can see from last year how injuries can pile up. The offensive line is a position of need still but is not as big of a need as before.

Conclusion

The Steelers will have a lot of options when they pick at the 24th position. If I had it my way, the Steelers would take Samuel Cosmi in the first round and build up the future of the offensive line. I also like the idea of drafting Creed Humphrey to get more depth on the offensive line and I think those are both picks that will hit.

I am less certain about the Steelers hitting on Jaycee Horn although it would be the perfect position fix for the Steelers. I do think the Steelers need to come away with a corner in the first three rounds at least.

I have a weird feeling Najee Harris will be the pick. It is just such a Steelers pick to take a bruising back who had a lot of star success at Alabama. His size and grit could be exactly what Mike Tomlin wants in a first-round pick.
