2. Trade back to get more draft capital

There shouldn’t be a fan out there who is opposed to this logic. What reason can you give for the Steelers not to move back this year – especially if they are deadset on drafting a running back with their first pick. I can tell you for sure that there isn’t enough of a talent gap between these top three running backs not to make this move.

Trading out of the 24th pick and moving to the tail end of the first round or the beginning of the second round is one of the best things the Steelers could do on draft day. Not only would they be picking up an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick, but there is no chance that all of the top three running backs will be off the board this early.

Even if this trade-back means that Pittsburgh would wind up with Javonte Williams or Travis Etienne instead of Najee Harris, I can assure you that it would be worth it to pick up an extra great draft pick. With this, the Steelers would have many more options early in the draft, including finding a starting center, offensive tackle, or cornerback. If Pittsburgh gets any offers at all to move back, they pounce on the opportunity.
