Who would the Steelers trade with?

So assuming they can come up with an offer to tempt someone who could they get to accept. In this scenario, the Steelers would not want to go lower than the 27th selection to get the maximum value for their trade.  With two selections in the first round, possibly Jacksonville could give up their second, but if they are drafting Trevor Lawrence and have the 25th pick, they would be fools to give up the 33rd selection.

The Jets are in the same situation as Jacksonville. The second-worst team in the league, and they have picks number 2, 23, and 34. It would make little sense for them to give up the 34th as well. A likely scenario could work with the Falcons. They currently have nine overall selections in 2021. They have the 4, 35, 68, 108, 148, 182, 183, 187, and 219th selections. However, they have no extra selections in 2022. So possibly the Steelers could give their 216, 245, or 254th pick and a selection or two in 2022 and or 2023. Something like that would work. It would sort of be like their trade with Miami to pick up Minkah Fitzpatrick.

If not Atlanta, the other option that could work could be another swap with Miami. In the 2nd round, they have two picks, number 36 from the Texans and selection number 50. They also have the 6th and the 18th selection in the first round. Thus they would not be sacrificing much with two first-round selections in the top 18 picks. Considering the 36th is an extra pick, the Dolphins might sacrifice it if the pot is sweet enough. They have eight selections in 2022, San Francisco’s 1st round selection, and San Francisco’s 3rd round pick. So they might go along with an extra pick or two in 2022.

Would the Steelers pull the trigger on such a trade? Probably not. However, the Steelers would have many options with three selections in the first and second round. The Steelers have salary cap issues; that’s well known. This option allows them to improve their team in one fell swoop and not have to deal with the salary cap if they try signing a free agent. If the Steelers employed this strategy, it would undoubtedly make the 2021 draft a bit more interesting for Steelers fans.
