2. Tight End

Like at the QB position, there is no desperation to pick up a tight-end either. Signing a contract from free agency last season, Eric Ebron helped Pittsburgh improve at tight-end ever since Heath Miller retired. Vance McDonald was great when needed to, but Ebron has put more effort into the position and the sport.

The Colts would like to get him back, but with his caliber, I don’t see him leaving Pittsburgh. Backing up Ebron or selecting a tight end to help in run-blocking and pass protection will be beneficial in any shape or form.

3. Linebacker

Devin Bush’s injury and the release of Bud Depree in Free Agency have caused some need in this area. The coaching staff have a bit of concern for how Devin Bush will perform when returning from his knee-reconstruction surgery last season.

Pittsburgh could gamble and select a linebacker higher in the draft than previously thought of or predicted. With Bud Depree gone, the decision to draft one will not be a bad one because they need someone to fill the spot anyway. However, one player was able to take the opportunity given to him and that was Robert Spillane before he suffered an injury of his own accord.

That move up to the starting roster gave Pittsburgh confidence that they have players to fulfill the position when he’s 100% healthy, but as I said at the QB position, can he and many others handle the pressure for the long-term? That has been a weakness for the franchise when the top stars go down. Selecting a linebacker is 50 / 50.
