Rashaad Coward, Offensive Tackle

Offensive Line will be another focus for this team as the regular season gets closer. Some players were brought in via free agency like Rashaad Coward to potentially provide competition for depth and starting reps in camp. The Steelers addressed tackle in the draft by selection Dan Moore Jr. out of Texas A&M. He is a nice prospect that will get a chance at the starting position against Chuks Okorafor but he will probably be better off if he sits for a year and continues to grow moving forward.

This selection of a tackle will put some players in a bind as they try to stick with the franchise on the final 53. Guys like Coward, Joe Haeg, and others will have to fight for a depth option on the team. There will only be so many outside offensive linemen staying on this roster so figuring that out will take time.

Coward was pointed out because the guy was brought on as potential depth but there is little room for him anymore. The last spot will probably come down to him and Haeg with one winning the swing tackle spot. Whoever can show the most versatility will be important for the coaches to see. The staff is always seeking versatility and what men can do beyond their positions to make up that final roster heading into the season that counts.

The Steelers will have a lot of depth and starting positions to work out before training camp concludes. There could be some even bigger names on the chopping block when the final 53-man roster is finalized.
