Chuks Okorafor, Offensive Tackle

Chuks Okorafor might have benefited the most from the recent draft class. The Steelers did not address the left tackle void until the fourth round of the event. Mike Tomlin and Kevin Colbert seemed to endorse Okorafor for the starting spot at the left side. The former third-round selection has had a couple of years to learn and fine-tune his game while learning behind some good tackles on the depth chart in front of him. He lost the starting right tackle spot to Zach Banner last season, which could cause concern for many. He did fill in decently at right tackle after Banner was lost to the season during the first game. He will move over to the left side and face the opposing defense’s best pass rusher every week and that is a major problem.

Okorafor has not shown the ability to be a solid starting tackle in this league and it likely won’t carry over to next season either. Unless he has a breakout year, this could be a major issue for this team at multiple points. Dan Moore Jr. out of Texas A&M is more of a project instead of a plug-and-play tackle in the NFL but he could still be a good player. He will battle with Okorafor for the starting left tackle spot but he does not seem ready for the jump to the next level at this time.
