Pittsburgh Steelers post-draft 53-man roster projection
The Steelers will have some tough decisions to make when the final cuts have to become official.
The 2021 NFL Draft saw the Steelers address many of their needs to varying degrees. Some were addressed higher than others and that could still affect the future outlook of this team in the immediate point of time. The offensive line still has some issues and question marks as it heads into the season even though the team drafted a tackle and center in the middle rounds. Those two will have to be impact players if the likelihood of this front group getting better is to become a reality.
Other positions like the depth at the edge rusher and the starting nickel corner were delayed to the late rounds of the draft. Those could be concerns as the season goes along but the roster will look a lot different from last year. Many starters have left the team over the offseason and the final 53 will have some new names littered throughout.
The black and gold added nine draft picks to their squad in the draft and signed an additional eight through the undrafted free agency process. The odds of one or more of these undrafted free agents sticking is fairly high when you look at the past Steelers rosters. It is going to be a very competitive training camp and pre-season process for this group of men as they forge themselves into an NFL team for the 2021 campaign.
Some will make it while others will be sent home with their packed bags. Some might not make the team but will stick on the practice squad moving forward. This is a process of talent evaluation and each player will get their shot to show these coaches why they deserve to be on this final roster heading into the regular season.
