Pittsburgh Steelers post-draft 53-man roster projection
Special Teams (3)
Special Teamers are people too and we always hear that when it comes this time of year. These players on this unit are extremely important when it comes final cut-down day. Their play in this phase of football will decide who stays and who goes based on how they performed on kick coverages and blocking for kicks. Players outside of the special team’s positional groups will have to show themselves here to make the team and stick around until they’re ready to play at their specific positions.
Chris Boswell (K)
Chris Boswell is still one of the most reliable kickers in the NFL so there will be no doubt when he makes the team. He did have some injury issues last season so that could be slightly concerning and lead to the Steelers keeping an extra kicker on the practice squad.
Pressley Harvin III (P)
Pressley Harvin is an absolute unit as this kid can do it all as a punter. He has a booming leg, he can throw when you need to fake a punt, and he can run down the field and smack someone with his 263-pound body. This guy is going to be fun to watch, the only worry is if he can translate that to the NFL level.
Kameron Canaday (LS)
Kameron Canaday is coming off a Pro Bowl season and that is saying something. He is a consistent long snapper that allows for his kicker and punter to get the ball away without many errors.
The Steelers have a long way to go before they have to make their final cuts. The time between now and then will determine who makes the team coming out of training camp.
