Pat Freiermuth

According to Colbert, Freiermuth made perfect sense to the Steelers. He was still available, and the Steelers loved his versatility. When they need him to block, Freiermuth can. When they need him as a receiver, he can do that too.  Expanding on that, he likes the options the Steelers have with him as a tight end.

Now the Steelers can run a normal formation with one tight end; they can run a double tight end set as they have Eric Ebron. If they do that, they can line both up in the slot, which may cause confusion on the defensive side of the ball or, in the least, create mismatches with defensive personnel.

Kendrick Green

The Steelers with this pick, according to Colbert, was more about value. Kendrick is very athletic, has excellent speed, and ran a 4.89 40 yard dash, and he is exceedingly strong. Kevin Miller noted that Green also squats 700 pounds. Quite impressive.

Colbert also noted his ability to play guard and center, giving him some versatility depending on how the Steelers need to utilize him. Overall they felt he was the best player available to address the Steelers center position.  According to Steelers.com, they also love his mean streak.
