EDGE Quincy Roche: 90%
It isn’t often that I would ever give a sixth-round pick a 90 percent chance of making the 53-man roster, but I think there’s a terrific chance that Quincy Roche is on the final roster for several reasons. The biggest reason is that Pittsburgh recently lost both Bud Dupree and Ola Adaniyi this offseason, and the team did nothing in the way of replacing them. In addition, Roche is a quality talent that I thought could have gone as high as the late third round. Because of the lack of depth at the position, he could have a chance to find himself in the edge rotation early in his rookie season.
CB Tre Norwood: 45%
Here’s the first (and only) Steelers draft pick in 2021 that I have as less than a 50/50 chance of making the team. While Tre Norwood may have been the only cornerback drafted by Pittsburgh this year, that pick didn’t come until halfway through the seventh round. With the Steelers signing a few quality priority free agents in Shakur Brown and Mark Gilbert, Norwood is going to have a fight tooth and nail for a roster spot, and it will not be handed to him.
P Pressley Harvin III: 80%
This is the largest percent chance I’ve ever given to a player who is a seventh-round draft choice – a compensatory pick, no less. Still, when a team allocates draft capital to draft a punter, they have a pretty good idea that he is going to make the team. I did leave a little bit of wiggle room here, as Jordan Berry or an outsider could potentially step in and make a case, something tells me Harvin is the punter for the Steelers moving forward.
The Steelers may not have gone after the highest-graded players on the draft board, but they certainly picked a lot of players who will have a strong chance to make the team in 2021. It’s rare that we see the entire draft class make the final 53-man roster, but there is a path to that happening this year.
