3. Drafting EDGE Quincy Roche in the sixth round

I may not get a lot of folks to agree with me on this one, but I really think that being able to draft a player like Quincy Roche in the sixth-round will turn out to be an absolute treat for the Steelers. After Bud Dupree and Ola Adeniyi both joined the Titans this offseason, most predicted that Pittsburgh would address the edge defender position by day two at the latest.

However, that clearly didn’t happen. After already selecting six players in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Steelers finally dipped their feet in the edge defender pool, as Roche was too good to pass on. Pittsburgh admitted to having a much higher grade on the Miami pass rusher, but other positions were bigger priorities to them.

Though they passed on Roche for the wrong reasons, they were still able to land him late in the draft, which makes this one of their best offseason moves in my opinion. It’s still possible that the Steelers go out and try to land another veteran outside linebacker who can help them right away after reportedly just missing out on Washington’s Ryan Kerrigan. Roche has the bend, motor, and pass rush prowess you could hope for, and he will have a chance to be heavily involved in the edge rotation as early as this year.
