6 players Steelers should trade for before training camp
By Andrew Falce
Alton Robinson
Frankly, this could have been either Alton Robinson or Darrell Taylor, as both were rookies last season, and both seem like they may be in competition with each other to make the roster. While Robinson got to play last season (Taylor was injured all year), Taylor has the higher expectations and the more significant draft investment. Thus, Robinson could be used as trade bait for the Seahawks this offseason.
Despite Robinson getting the quarterback four times in a reserve role last season, the Seahawks still invested heavily in the edge position this offseason. They resigned Carlos Dunlap while also bringing in Kerry Hyder and Aldon Smith to bring the heat. With L.J. Collier still on the roster as well, it seems like Robinson could be on the outside looking in.
His fit with the Steelers is obvious; he would be the top backup outside linebacker and be a situational pass rusher as evident by his play last season. His value is hard to gauge right now, as his play last season indicates a fourth or fifth round value on him, but the depth makes him look like almost a fringe roster player. If the Seahawks would take a late-round pick for him, the Steelers would be wise to be calling them right now.
