Terrell Edmunds is the only defender to make my list for most to prove.

It is very hard for me to put Terrell Edmunds on this list. I am a huge fan of his, as he has made great leaps the past two seasons, showing us why he was chosen in the first round. Pittsburgh declined his 5th-year option, so this is a contract year for him. I don’t think the Steelers have made their decision on him yet. We will have a tough one to make next year. If Edmunds makes another large leap forward in 2021, Pittsburgh will want to re-sign him. Although, having to extend T.J Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick makes that a tall task.

If Edmunds does not improve or even takes a step back, he could be on his way out of the Steel City. We saw how quickly Sean Davis fell out of favor with most of the NFL last season. At the beginning of 2019, Davis was the starting free safety for the Steelers. He left after the Fitzpatrick trade as a free agent signing for Washington. He soon found himself cut and claimed by Pittsburgh as a backup in 2020. It is hard to make it as a defensive back in the NFL. For Edmunds, who is such a perfect fit for the Steelers’ scheme, if he can’t prove himself in black and gold his career could go south rather quickly.
