3. Melvin Ingram, Edge Defender

When Melvin Ingram is healthy, he was phenomenal on the field. From 2015-2018, Ingram played all 64 games and recorded 36 sacks in that span. Like the other players mentioned, Ingram has been injured for the last two years and is 32 years old. While most of the remaining free agents have injury concerns, it baffles me that Melvin Ingram is still available.

He is a warrior on the field, and when you pair him with T.J Watt and the rest of the Steelers defense, offensives will fear what the entire unit can accomplish. The Steelers would be foolish not to bring in Ingram for at least minicamp, and even if he ends up being a rotational piece at first, Ingram could eventually make his way in the starting lineup.

I would like to believe that if Ingram is not signed within the next month, the Steelers will ultimately make a phone call just to figure out his asking price. The Steelers have been linked to linebackers and pass rush help such as Ryan Kerrigan this offseason, and if the Steelers choose not to look at Ingram, K.J. Wright is another name I would like them to consider signing.

The Steelers’ Mandatory Minicamp begins June 15th and OTAs begin May 25th. From now until the start of the season, the Steelers will have plenty of time to acquire talent from the free-agent market or trades, and hopefully, the players I mentioned will be among those signed.
