The Pittsburgh Steelers still have a lot of uncertainties on this team at the moment but let’s have some fun with pre-season award projections.

Awards are something every player doesn’t always necessarily seek out but they come along the way. The majority of players are seeking the Lombardy trophy and the magnificent rings that come with those championships. The Steelers do hand out their team awards after every season no matter how that year turned out.

Many great players have come through the black and gold ranks since the team was founded in 1933. Some of those big names have left an ever-lasting mark both on the team and the NFL. This will focus more on just the team awards and those who could still make the Pro Bowl when the season is over.

The Chief Award (best with the media): Cam Heyward

Cam Heyward has been the sole leader on this Steelers defense for the last decade almost. He has time and time again been a captain for this franchise and that leads to other responsibilities. Talking with the media is part of a football player’s job in the professional ranks and Heyward has been very assessable to them. He speaks well and he is always able to talk no matter how the team is doing. He is the perfect showing of what it means to be a captain and lead a team for anyone in the NFL.

His leadership and openness with the media have allowed him to gain respect from them and this award should go to someone like him. He is a very unappreciated player on the national stage but him getting some form of accolade by receiving this reward would help recognize his help to the media. Everyone has a job to do and the way Heyward recognizes that with those covering the team is a huge help to them.
