Justin Houston, Outside linebacker

Justin Houston was linked to the Steelers when he was a free agent earlier in his career through many different fan pages. He would eventually sign with the Indianapolis Colts and thrive as he played great football there. Houston is getting older but this player still creates havoc against opposing offenses every week in the NFL.

The former All-Pro edge rusher just turned 32 in January so he does not fill the typical bill of free agents the team normally targets. The issue is the team has very little depth behind Alex Highsmith and T.J. Watt on the roster. Adding a player like Houston would be a great addition and provide stable pass-rush ability with that trio.

The franchise did not address this need until the sixth round of the draft with Quincey Roche. He is a promising rookie after a nice college career but he can’t be your third option going into the season and neither can Cassius Marsh. Houston seems to make the most sense out of all options listed in this article.

Pittsburgh was interested in signing Ryan Kerrigan before he joined the Eagles so they are looking on the open market. This player will cost the black and gold some money to acquire but this would be worth it and solve the depth issues at the position.

The Steelers will be a better team if they sign any of these names that their fans are begging for. Even though it seems like it would make sense for some of these names, it is not very likely to happen anytime soon.
